Lleyn Sheep

Lleyn Sheep are medium-sized white sheep from North Wales originated in the Lleyn Peninsula. Despite the ewes being smaller in size than other commercial breeds (ewes weigh around 65 – 85kg) they are still capable of rearing their lambs to achieve more than her own body weight at 14 weeks. The size also allows a higher stocking density and more importantly, a lower carbon footprint.

Lleyn Sheep thrive under a variety of conditions and are easily handled and generally very docile. They are naturally hardy, healthy and durable. The breed is also well known for  its outstanding maternal and productive attributes. With lambing ease and maternal instinct which is shown in enthusiastic acceptance of the lambs the ewes also show very good qualities in looking after their vigorous new born lambs.

No matter of pure or cross-bred, the success of the breed is a result of the outstanding maternal qualities, which secures productivity, efficiency with minimal environmental impact.
