Aberdeen Angus Cattle

The Aberdeen Angus is a Scottish breed of small beef cattle. It is naturally polled and black or red. The breed has a large population in many countries all over the world such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States. However, in the UK the original Native Aberdeen Angus cattle is listed by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust as “at risk”.

As a native breed, Aberdeen Angus is very adaptable and can thrive in varied conditions and environments. Being known as very hardy, they can also survive the harsh Scottish winters. It feeds off natural resources which makes this breed as the most sustainable of the cattle breeds and reduces the carbon footprint of the agricultural business significantly. With females weighing only around 650kg and males around 1,000kg, Aberdeen Angus is ideal for the sometimes delicate Orkney soil.

The breed itself is not only a premium quality cattle breed, “Aberdeen-Angus” is worldwide seen as the leading beef brand.
